Hi all, I went to Specsavers to get prescription sunglasses this morning. Had my next door neighbopur's baby as her grandma was ill (mum is only 17, so lives with her mum) and while I was trying on frames I WAS ROBBED!!! some horrible, awful person went down my bag and stole both my purses/ One contains my cards for bank, top up phone etc and the other had £420 cash, as I had just got out the money to pay for the glasses, as I had been in previous day to ask. I had drawn out cash, which I had been saving for them and other things, so thats why I had so much cash, not that it would have matterd, they may have got to buy stuff on line with the card anyway. I spoke to police, a kind woman came with me, luckily there were int he shopping centre getting people to sign a petition on vicious crime. A kind man also phoned them for me and handed me his phone to speak to them, but we found an officer in Tesco so he dealt with it. They phoned earlier and have good cctv imaging, so maybe he/she will be caught. Felt so illl went to bed at 3pm after my girls had left for the airport as they are off to Ibiza for the week. Just got up, still feel achy all over, and so tired. Sorry for such a miserable post, and hope everyone is doing ok x BARBARA

Oh Barbie, what a horrid thing to happen to you! You can't believe there are such people around that will do such a thing. I'm glad you were able to report it to the police and they may have the culprit on tape. It's bad enough having the money stolen but then there is all the hassle of cancelling cards and waiting for new ones. It's no wonder you are feeling so ill! I think a large glass of wine (or maybe bottle) is in order! Hope you feel better soon and I hope your girls have a good week in Ibiza! Tell them to bring back some sunshine!
Love and hugs, Doreen xx

Barbara, So very sorry to read what has happened to you today, it just makes you feel sick inside when something like that happens and especially when you were doing someone else a favour by looking after the baby. There are words I cannot print to describe what I would like to happen to the so called human being who did this to you. All I can hope is that the CCTV manages to pinpoint and help to catch them. In the meantime my thoughts are with you and hoping that you feel a little better this evening. With all best wishes Sheila

Hi Barbie, so sorry to hear what happened to you, it makes me so angry. I really hope that everything gets sorted for you, think karma, I truly believe that they will get their just deserts. In the meantime, put your feet up, have a bottle of wine and some chocolate and spoil yourself!
Take care, thinking of you.

Hi Barbara
What a horrid morning it makes my blood boil, trouble is even if they do get caught its normally a fine or slap on the wrist. The Community Police knocked on all the doors in our area recently to warn us that there are lots of Eastern Europeans in our town centre pick pocketing and to be careful. Hope the rest of your weekend is ok, rest and take it easy. Anne x

Thanks everyone, just sitting and resting. Had the chocolate, but not the wine so far!!! will see what we have lol!! Feeling like my body is too heavy to move, and achy. All stress related I suppose. Trying not to think too much about it, as nothing else can be done. BARBARA

Oh Barbara - how awful for you. Just wanted to say thinking of you today. You were kind enough to be doing a neighbour a good turn and it is so unfair for it to end like this. Hope they catch the thief and you get your money back. Hope too that you can rest upa bit and get over the horrible shock.
Thinking of you XX Ailsa

Oh Barbara - I can't add anything else to what's already been said. I'm gutted for you. I hope they catch him. It must be sooooo frustrating knowing you can't do anymore. What did the optician's say? I hope you feel a bit better today.

Sending you a big hug.
I remember when I once thought that my purse had gone missing, it was years ago but I still can remember how I felt, thankfully it was hidden at the bottom of my handbag, but its something I never want to happen again, I felt so sick.
The fact that you had all of your cards in your purse just adds more to it having to get them replaced.
Had you just taken the money out of the bank? If you had, do you think that someome may of seen you there and followed you? If so and they are on the cameras in the bank and in Specsavers you may be able to trace them via the bank if they have an account there.
Hope you are feeling a little better.
Take Care
Paula x x

Thank you everyone for kind messages. Paula, think you may be right, could have followed me from the cash machine into the store. Just waited til I was distracted and took their chance. Not a sign of the security people who are supposed to cover the centre. No heard any more from the police so far, but hoping whoever it is gets punished for it. How many other people has he/she stolen from recently? Feeling better today, hips and legs aching, usual swollen ankles etc but taking it easy. Went back to Specsavers today, and they were very good, offered to give me free frames and part money off lenses too, so as I wear varifocals its made a big difference. I said I was very grateful for their consideration, and he said that although it wasnt the stores fault they felt it would be appropriate to offer the discount. Its made me feel alot better. Also the fact that there were two people who put themselves out to help me, restores my faith in human nature. Well, now its a case of getting on with things, and not dwelling on it too much. Thanks for all the support and kindness from everyone, it means alot x x BARBARA

Hi Barbara Just trying to catch up with posts, seem to have got behind with things! So sorry to hear of your upset what an awful thing to happen. I do hope somewhere along the lines the thief is caught and brought to justice. Really decent of people to help though and generous of Specsavers. Clearly there are still some good natured people in this very motley world. Do hope the police get back to you soon and you can get some closure. Take care Barbara, Lyn x

Hi Barbara,
Glad you are feeling a bit better today and were able to get a reduction on the price of your glasses. My daughter really sympathises with you, she says she can vividly remember the sick, cold feeling when she realised her purse had been stolen in Spain last year. I hope they catch the culprits, they shouldn't get away with it.
Love and hugs, Doreen xx
